Precise control and stabilization of magnetic fields is a key requirement in many quantum technology platforms, including neutral-atom quantum computers and quantum simulators. The performance of these systems is often limited by slow magnetic field drifts and spatial field inhomogeneities in the experimental environment.

The aim of this PhD project is the development of a compact atomic magnetometry sensor head capable of precise magnetic field monitoring and calibration in the vicinity of quantum devices. The research is part of a broader quantum sensor development effort and focuses on the realization of a compact and robust demonstrator suitable for laboratory integration.

The work constitutes applied research, combining experimental quantum optics with sensor engineering. The doctoral student will participate in the design and implementation of the optical and electronic subsystems of the sensor head, robotic integration of the atomic sensing element into a compact architecture, and the development of calibration and signal-processing methods for quantitative magnetic field measurements.

While the primary application target is magnetic field control in neutral-atom quantum computing experiments, the developed sensing approach may also open possibilities for compact high-sensitivity magnetometers applicable in geomagnetic measurements and space applications.
